The area of Canstein has been settled for a long time, which can be seen from the Canstein Castle dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. The "St. Laurentius Chapel" has also been part of the village image for a long time.
The building was erected from 1834 to 1837 as a classicist hall church with a wooden ceiling and 3/6 closure. The hipped gable of the western facade was crowned with a cubic ridge turret. The interior is quite uniform in Biedermeier style. The building is plastered and articulated in ashlar from wide corner pilasters.
