The drinking water for the town of Brilon is dammed spring water in the Schmahlatal. A lake, also called Silver Lake, which is a popular hiking destination due to its beautiful location. The hiking trail "Schmahlatal-Rundweg" marked with the B1 leads directly past the lake. From the fire oak on the Rothaarsteig you can reach the lake, after crossing the country road, along the lower forest path.
