The Collection from Urban Cleaning and Waste Disposal, SASE for short, has set itself the task of documenting and presenting to the public the importance of waste collection and urban cleaning with regard to hygiene, environmental and climate protection.

In addition, SASE maintains, among other things, the industry archive of the German waste disposal industry and the "German Waste Management Library" (DABib) with its approximately 20,000 reference books on environmental technology and waste management.
In a permanent exhibition, visitors can vividly learn about the technical developments in the fields of waste collection, street cleaning, sewer services and recycling.

Over 40 historical vehicles, various functional models, installations and multimedia elements bring the eventful history of the waste management industry in Germany since 1900 to life on an area of 800 square meters. The SASE exhibition is thus the world's largest exhibition on the subject of "urban environmental protection".

Guided tours for children
Younger visitors can immerse themselves in the medieval world of waste and refuse collection during child-friendly guided tours, explore refuse vehicles and various waste containers, and ask questions about modern waste collection and separation in a playful way. Or simply sit behind the wheel of a (historic) garbage truck.

Climate protection through circular economy
The questions of the present are asked in the second part of the exhibition, which is devoted to "Climate protection through circular economy". The great climate protection potential of the waste management industry is illustrated by models of composting and waste treatment plants. Various exhibits from the fields of industrial cleaning and waste recycling invite visitors to try them out, touch them and experience them.
