The parish church of St. James is located in the center of Remblinghausen.
The construction of the baroque hall church in Remblinghausen was started in 1754 by pastor Wilhelm Theodor Stratmann and the master builder Christian Sieger from Grafschaft. After 10 years the church could be consecrated.
The parish church of St. James was built around the foundation walls of a Romanesque church. This originated from the 13th century and had room for about 50 people.
In 1980, the remains of this church and the grave of Pastor Stratmann were found during the renovation of the heating system.
The organ dates from 1780, and the original pipes have been preserved to this day. The organ itself was rebuilt in 1980/81. Except for the historic facade pipes and a few stops, there was hardly any usable material left and the technology from the first half of the 20th century was no longer usable.
