NABU Olpe has been involved in nature conservation and environmental protection since 1982. Within the scope of their voluntary work, they help with planting campaigns, hedge and fruit tree care, amphibian protection campaigns, nesting box construction and, and, and....
In the context of excursions, lectures, guided walks or at information booths the association informs the fellow citizens. Because only what one knows, one can also protect and preserve.
The association in Olpe, for example, has purchased the former Stupperhof quarry in order to preserve it permanently as a habitat for the eagle owl. They also look after the biotope pond near Würdinghausen in the Hünsborn wetlands as a safe place for amphibians and dragonflies.
Young and active are also the members of the NAJU children's group. The young nature lovers are out and about in nature for an afternoon every 14 days. They naturally experience all seasons with their special features. The children become animal and plant researchers, and they explore the waters equipped with magnifying glasses and sieves. Of course, there is a lot of playing and also crafting, collecting and asking. The children and of course the group leaders try to clarify and explain all questions. In this way, the children playfully learn about ecological relationships. Small excursions, such as meadow days, bat night or bird watch, are an absolute must for the little naturalists. If the weather is not so good, the group leader invites them to do handicrafts with natural materials, play games and paint. New participants are always welcome at all activities!
Information about the activities, events and excursions or membership can be found on the association's website.
