On 15.11.1995 the Lebenshilfe Kreisverband Olpe was founded in order to create urgently needed residential places for people with disabilities in the Olpe district. Together with the regional association of Lebenshilfe NRW, the first project was tackled, so that only half a year later, on April 15, 1996, the Villa Müller, the first residential facility of Lebenshilfe in the Olpe district, could be opened. Only one year later, the villa was extended by an annex, so that today 20 residential places are available in a central location of Olpe. In addition, the house has two places for short-term and preventive care. Currently, rooms are being built in the attic of the building for the new day structure offered by Lebenshilfe in Olpe and two training apartments for future users of Supported Living.
In 1999 and 2002, two external residential groups were established in Olpe on Silberweg and Grubenstraße. This was followed in 2003 by the large new residential facility in the community of Wenden with 20 places. A total of 59 people with disabilities live in the residential facilities and external residential groups of Lebenshilfe in the Olpe district. The owner and sponsor of all the facilities is Lebenshilfe Wohnen gemeinnützige GmbH NRW in Hürth.
The district association supports the work of the local sponsor. It has 109 members and is led by an honorary 3-member board. Become a member of the Lebenshilfe district association.
