Gerkes Quarry - Bulging Rock Formations
Discover fossilized bulging slide structures that formed at the bottom of the sea about 320 million years ago and learn why a volcanic eruption near Welleringhausen is responsible for them.
You will find the quarry above the village in the direction of Usseln. From the parking lot at the L854 you walk below the parking lot into the forest, after about 100m you reach Gerkes quarry.
