As a "private church" - the few Protestants were out of the question as builders - of the Fürstenberg pastor Wilhelm Schwarz, it was built in only 2 years. Due to the strong influx of about 350 displaced persons from Silesia, East Prussia and ethnic Germans from Poland after 1945, the church was expanded in 1954. Since then it has been the center of community life for the villages of Westheim, Oesdorf and Meerhof.
The Erlöserkirche invites to silence and prayer. Especially worth seeing are the church windows with depictions of biblical stories from the Old and New Testaments.
Church service:
Sundays at 10:30 a.m. - alternating with Christuskirche in Bredelar and Emmauskirche in Marsberg.
