Due to the increased settlement of industrial plants at the end of the 19th century, the church congregation grew strongly. After the First World War, the desire for a church of its own arose and a church building association was founded, which bought a suitable plot of land in 1927. However, the project did not come to fruition because of political conditions and the Second World War. After the end of the war, the number of Catholics increased sharply because of numerous settlers, especially from Silesia. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1946, the laying of the foundation stone in 1947, and the first Catholic mass could be celebrated on September 12, 1948.
