The chapel is dedicated to the "Sorrowful Mother at the Lord's tomb". It was built in 1929 on the basis of a vow made by Pastor Rhene. In architecture it reminds of the upper part of the chapel on the Mount of Beatitude in the Holy Land, which is located near Capernaum.
It is the symbol of the village of Braunshausen and shines every evening at dusk in a beautiful light. During the day you can enjoy the beautiful view of Braunshausen from the chapel.
