Each of the villages has its own special charm: In the north are Hachen with its castle ruins and Enkhausen. This is where the former German President Heinrich Lübke was born. Langscheid and Amecke can be found in the west, directly on the beautiful, eight-kilometer-long Sorpesee, which is often described as the most beautiful and pristine of all Sauerland-Seen.

In the east of the city, visitors* will find the hiking paradise "Old Testament" with the villages of Hellefeld, Altenhellefeld, Westenfeld, Linnepe and Meinkenbracht. All of them are ideal starting points for wonderful hikes. The villages of Stockum, excellently situated in the Sauerland Siebengebirge, Endorf with its magnificent local history museum "Alte Schmitte" and the "Strackenhof", the oldest stone house in the Sauerland region of the Electorate of Cologne, and the old titular town of Allendorf with the "Fickeltünnes Wanderweg" are also in the southern region, as are Hagen and Wildewiese.

Those who like to be active will find their destination in Hagen and Wildewiese. Hagen has excellent mountain bike trails and the alpine slopes in Wildewiese with different levels of difficulty are ideal for skiing and snowboarding. The ski slopes are floodlit, so you can enjoy the runs late into the night. Another bonus: The resorts are close together, offering unforgettable vacation experiences in all seasons.
