Hotel Haus Wiesengrund

Start of a fantastic motorcycle weekend

The chrome gleams in the sun, freshly polished and ready to conquer the roads in the land of a thousand mountains. It's an invitation that Yvonne and Andreas are only too happy to accept. Motorcycle weather is the order of the day and the couple already has their destination for the short vacation clearly in mind: the Sauerland! After all, the winding country roads and fascinating views around the Kahler Asten are beckoning. The anticipation of a relaxed motorcycle weekend is rising, especially since the desired hotel also promises a lot.

It should be the Hotel Haus Wiesengrund in Braunshausen, an idyllic village right on the Hessian border near Hallenberg. During the search on the Internet it has made in the truest sense of the word fast "click". The lovingly and informatively designed website of the hotel at www.wiesengrund.net was immediately the favorite and a little later the room was booked. The family Knecht leads the hotel with much passion and heart blood. The four-star house offers 26 comfort rooms with balcony as well as five standard rooms all equipped with WLAN, a barrier-free entrance and elevator and the buffet and á la carte restaurant, whose chef focuses on regional products. The rustic Bierstube with winter garden, the café with terrace as well as the Biergarten and the bowling alley invite you to stay. New is the beautifully furnished Wiesengrund SPA with swimming pool (4x8 meters, water temperature 29 °), a Finnish old wood sauna, a herbal sauna, heat bench, experience shower, infrared heat cabin, fitness room, beauty and massage studio as well as sun terrace with feel-good loungers and ample parking.

So it's no wonder that Yvonne and Andreas can hardly wait for their motorcycle weekend. The short vacation already begins with the journey. Kilometer after kilometer, curve after curve, out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and into the soothing tranquility of the Sauerland. The couple arrives at Haus Wiesengrund, located in the center of town, in time for lunch and enjoys the warm welcome of the Knecht family, which is immediately combined with a short excursion into the hotel kitchen. The delicious smells of freshly prepared food alone make Yvonne and Andreas' mouths water. The juicy meat for the delicious burger and the steak from regional origin sizzle promisingly in the pan. It's time for a hearty meal with a fresh Veltins non-alcoholic on the terrace. After all, we're going on tour later.

Before setting off, Yvonne and Andreas first find out about the many fascinating tours around Braunshausen at the reception desk. The Sauerland Tourist Board's roadbook is a great help, as it contains all the essential information in a compact and user-friendly format. Those who prefer the digital version can also call up many of the tours conveniently on their cell phones using the Sauerland app. For Yvonne and Andreas, the Grenzland tour with the hotel owner and four other motorcycle friends is on the agenda. This 163-kilometer tour takes them on winding sections and small, well-maintained roads across the Hessian state border through Medebach Bay to Lake Edersee. Tip: A detour to the Edersee with Waldeck Castle is definitely worthwhile. The tour also touches Frankenberg in Hesse and leads back to Hallenberg via small villages in the Sauerland. Then it crosses the border again into the Wittgensteiner Land to Bad Berleburg with its impressive castle and from there back up to Neuastenberg, past the Postwiese ski area via Züschen and north past Hallenberg to Medebach.

Detour to the "BMW Testride Center" at Haus Wiesengrund

Beforehand, however, a short trip to the "BMW Testride Center" of Haus Wiesengrund is on the agenda. Here the newest BMW motorcycles can be lent and extensively tested. An absolutely unique feature and for motorcycle fans a perfect start to the tour. However, the motorcycle trip cannot start without the "Loud is out" sticker of Sauerland Tourism. This campaign is intended to promote considerate coexistence between guests, locals and all road users. In concrete terms, the aim is to reduce noise pollution in towns and villages and in noise-sensitive places by driving mindfully. High-speed driving, for example, should be avoided. Of course, Yvonne and Andreas immediately put the sticker on their machine and set an example.

After a few stops, for example at the chapel above Braunshausen with a view of Hessen, they set off. Yvonne and Andreas enjoy a fantastic tour, which they will not forget so quickly. Crowned with a delicious dinner with fresh Veltins in the evening sun of the house Wiesengrund. For the couple it is clear: The next motorcycle weekend will also lead to the beautiful Sauerland.
