Menden, with its 53,000 inhabitants, is a place of solidarity with a high quality of life and economic strength and offers a successful mixture of tradition and modernity. Due to its location between the Ruhrgebiet and the recreational area Sauerland, Menden is a city with a feel-good character for residents and visitors.

Located in the Hönnetal in the Sauerland and only a stone's throw from the major cities of Dortmund and Hagen, Menden scores with forest, water, lots of greenery and a picturesque town center.

Characterized by over 725 years of history with a medieval and historic Altstadt, Menden offers a variety of interesting sights that are definitely worth a visit. Among them are the St. Vincent Church and the Old Town Hall in Art Nouveau style. Both buildings are considered landmarks of the city. With the still recognizable Wallring, its city towers and the partially preserved city wall, there are further impressive insights into the history of Menden.

Those who live here appreciate, as it were, the proximity to the metropolitan region and the recreational value of nature. On the other hand, Menden, with its diverse leisure and cultural program and the various city festivals, is the meeting point and event stage of the western Sauerland. Local culture and open hospitality make it an attraction for the whole region.

Many town festivals and traditional celebrations such as the Menden Carnival, the Whitsun Fair, spring and autumn markets and last but not least the Menden Summer and Menden à la carte attract more than 500,000 visitors to our town in the course of a year.

Menden's nature offers the best conditions for numerous outdoor activities. Due to its location on the RuhrtalRadweg, Menden is the ideal starting point for interesting bicycle tours through the region.
