Finnentrop

The diverse nature and landscape of the Sauerland region is the driving force behind the colorful diversity in the districts. Not to lose touch, but still to preserve a good piece of tradition with culture and a lively customs: A healthy attitude that gives the municipality of Finnentrop and its villages their colorful appearance.

In the midst of the mountain ranges of Homert and Ebbegebirge lies the densely wooded vacation community of Finnentrop. Between the heights, numerous meadow valleys crisscrossed by streams spread out. Embedded in this picturesque landscape are the villages, some of which are over 900 years old and are characterized by typical regional black and white half-timbered houses. In addition to rest and relaxation, guests will find all kinds of sights worth seeing. Three historic castles, several churches and chapels, old mills and a small museum of local history are just a few examples. For those interested in technology, the Alte Mühle and the Knochenmühle in the Frettertal are worthwhile destinations. If you want to relax, the leisure and adventure pool FINTO is the place to be.

More than 300 kilometers of marked hiking trails invite to extensive exercise in the fresh air. Highlights of the hiking trail network are the Finnentrop circular hiking trail and the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail. Finnentrop with its train station on the Ruhr-Sieg route is also particularly attractive as a starting point for bicycle tours, e.g. on the Lenneroute in the direction of Winterberg or the Ruhrgebiet, on the Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg via Attendorn, Olpe to Kirchen an der Sieg or via Eslohe to Meschede an der Ruhr.

Since September 2015, the Lennepark has been the central hub of the community. A junction of the three well-known cycle paths SauerlandRadring, Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg and Lenneroute has been created on former railroad land. In addition to an outdoor fitness park, younger children can find something to do on the large playground, while adults can spend time in the Lokschuppen right next door.
