From the starting point in Hirschberg Mitte, an access path leads onto the Sauerland-Waldroute to the enchanting Bilsteintal valley, with its wildlife park and Bilstein Cave. From the Bilsteintal valley, the trail now heads towards Warstein. Here you can take a short detour a little off the beaten track to the Biergarten at Warstein Welt.
A brewery tour through Warstein Welt is of course a special experience. Back on the route, the path passes the town of Warstein and leads back into the forest. Once here, the refuge offers the opportunity to take a break with a wonderful view of nature.
Pass the Hubertusquelle spring and head towards the landmark of the Waldroute, the Lörmecke-Turm. Once climbed, the observation tower offers a fantastic view over the Arnsberg Forest.
The route leads past the Markes Kreuz waypoint towards the mountain village of Eversberg. A detour to the historic ruins is recommended. Pass the Riesenbank and Eversberg on the Sauerland-Waldroute towards Föckinghausen. A stop at the Föckinghausen Waldhaus is recommended here. From here, the route takes a direct downhill route to the destination, Bestwig railroad station.

Information about the rescue signs on the Sauerland-Waldroute
Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?
In an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the Sauerland-Waldroute is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
