The first known church in Eslohe was built at the beginning of the 13th century. The bell from 1465 is the oldest in the bell tower today. Construction of the present church began in 1775 with the building of the tower. The nave was added in 1777. After the roof was completed in 1780, an altar could be erected in the tower. The collapse of the choir loft in 1782 was a major setback in the progress of the building work. The church was consecrated in 1783.
