Touching comedy about two lonely souls
Ever Montgomery, a professor of geosciences, urgently needs to learn to dance for an awards ceremony. However, he detests any physical contact because he suffers from a special form of autism.
On the advice of the janitor, he approaches his neighbor and dancer Senga Quinn. However, after injuring her leg, it is doubtful whether she will ever be able to dance again. So Ever offers her 2153 dollars for a dance lesson. Senga initially rejects this offer as "immoral". But then curiosity wins out and the unlikely pair start lessons. Absurd situations quickly develop...
"The Dance Lesson" is an amusing comedy about two people who struggle to keep the same beat but become surprisingly close.
Die Presse judges: "This invitation to dance is great theater, bittersweet and magical." (B.Z.)
"... a wonderful chamber play ... Warm-hearted and full of quiet humor, completely free of kitsch and captivating to the last second." (Berliner Morgenpost)
Oliver Mommsen is known to a wide audience as Bremen's Tatort detective. He played the character of investigator Stedefreund from 2001 to 2019. He has also appeared in many other TV productions and series as well as theater productions.
Nadine Schori is primarily known to theater audiences. She has acted alongside Katja Riemann and Katharina Thalbach, for example, and also works as a director.
