Berlin-Kreuzberg 1989 Frank Lehmann, who is only ever called "Herr Lehmann" by his friends, is about to celebrate his 30th birthday. At night, behind the bar in Kreuzberg's pubs, he fills up the seekers and drifters with the liquid content of life. But his world is West Berlin in the shadow of the Wall at the end of the 1980s - no time for quiet times. When he unexpectedly falls in love, his parents announce they are coming to visit, his friend Karl slowly loses his mind while preparing his first art exhibition and he can't agree on a recipe for the perfect roast pork with the beautiful chef.But Mr. Lehmann knows: "It's not important that it's like before; it's important that it's good."
The debut novel by element-of-crime singer Sven Regener dominated the bestseller lists for months and achieved cult status within a very short time, not least thanks to the congenial film adaptation by Leander Haußmann.
