Once again this year, the "Against Forgetting" commemorative event will take place at the Jewish cemetery in Eimelrod to mark the November 1938 pogroms. Together with the municipality of Willingen (Upland), the Protestant Association and the Willingen Upland School, the victims of National Socialist persecution will be remembered, in particular the Jewish fellow citizens who were cruelly attacked and persecuted. The destruction of the synagogue in Eimelrod is also remembered.
Speakers call for historical responsibility and tolerance by setting an example against forgetting. The names and fates of the Eimelrod Jews are read out, making the commemoration particularly personal. Musical contributions, prayers and moments of reflection emphasize the importance of remembrance for the future.
All men are asked to wear a head covering (kippah, hat, cap) at the Jewish cemetery.
